Therapy is an investment in yourself.

When you make an investment – of time, energy, or money – you want it to grow and bring greater returns to your life. You want to feel that all your efforts have been worthwhile.

It’s the same with therapy. Seeing a therapist every week is an investment of your time and energy. Ultimately, the reward is living a life that you love. You’re able to cope better with life’s challenges, you don’t feel as stuck, and you have a stronger sense of who you are in the world.

Life is not what it’s supposed to be. It’s what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.

Virginia Satir

When you invest in yourself by going to therapy, the results will benefit you for the rest of your life.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: I do not accept insurance at this time. Though insurance can be convenient, there are also many benefits to using private pay for mental health counseling. Some of these benefits include:

  • You are able to find the best therapist for you, rather than your insurance determining this choice
  • More flexibility to choose the length of services, length of sessions, content of your sessions, and frequency of sessions
  • You will be ensured confidentiality. Your records will not be shared without your permission. Insurance companies sometimes require private information to be shared with them in order to cover the services provided.
  • Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis be given for them to cover services.
  • No need to worry that your health records may create problems for you or your family in the future (ex: increased life and health insurance premiums)
  • You will be able to stay with your therapist even if your insurance plan coverage changes
  • Insurance typically does not cover couples counseling services

Q: Do you have a sliding scale?

A: Yes, I offer a sliding fee scale, which means that I am usually able to offer a lower price based on your needs. Let me know if you are interested in discussing a sliding fee scale rate.
